2010-2011 Broadway Theater Series Announced
New Season Tickets on Sale June 7
April 26, 2010 (Peoria, IL) - The Peoria Civic Center announces the 2010-2011 Broadway Theater Series, featuring five of the best in national touring productions, including "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF," "LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL," "BLUE MAN GROUP," "GREASE" and "THE COLOR PURPLE." Adult tickets are $276 for box seats, $235 for main floor and first balcony, and $177 for second balcony. Student tickets are $276 for box seats, $223 for main floor and first balcony, and $167 for second balcony. "SPRING AWAKENING," "BUS STOP" and "CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: DRALION" are offered as extras.
New season tickets for the Peoria Civic Center's 2010-2011 Broadway Theater Series go on sale Monday, June 7, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office or by phone at 309-673-3200. Season ticket holders receive the first opportunity to purchase the best available seats, discounts on ticket prices, and advance notice on theatrical events at the Peoria Civic Center.
The season kicks off with "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF" on October 18 and 19, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. both nights. Based on the stories of Sholom Aleichem, "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF" has been lauded by critics again and again, and won the hearts of people all around the world. Filled with a rousing, heartwarming score, which includes "Tradition," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were A Rich Man" and "Sunrise, Sunset," "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF" is a timeless classic. No other musical has so magically woven music, dance, poignancy and laughter into such an electrifying and unforgettable experience. Next up is "LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL," on November 30, December 1 and December 2, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. each night. It's here, and it's "AN ELLE OF A SHOW" (TIME Magazine). The hilarious MGM film is Broadway's new smash hit musical, and now "LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL" is coming to you. "LEGALLY BLONDE" follows sorority star Elle Woods, an underestimated blonde who doesn't take "no" for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. After turning Broadway and MTV hot pink, this "Feel-Good Song and DanceJuggernaut" (New York Magazine) is "The Best New Musical Around!" (WOR).
Next is "BLUE MAN GROUP" on January 7, 2011, at 8 p.m. and January 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. "BLUE MAN GROUP" is best known for their wildly popular theatrical shows and concerts which combine comedy, music, and technology to produce a totally unique form of entertainment. The New York Times heralds the show as "One of the most delightful performance pieces ever staged." E! Entertainment News exclaims, " ‘BLUE MAN GROUP' is what every live performance aspires to be." Although it is impossible to describe, people of all ages agree that "BLUE MAN GROUP" is an intensely exciting and wildly outrageous show that leaves the entire audience in a blissful, euphoric state. Up next is "GREASE" on February 5, 2011, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. The one that you want is back! Now starring Laverne & Shirley's Eddie Mekka (Carmine "the big ragu" Ragusa) as DJ Vince Fontaine. Take a trip to a simpler time of poodle skirts, drive-ins, and T-birds. The final show of the season is "THE COLOR PURPLE" on March 15 and 16, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. both nights. The second extra is "BUS STOP" on February 26, 2011, at 8 p.m. This hit comedy examines the many faces of love, where extraordinary qualities are revealed in seemingly ordinary people. The final extra is "CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: DRALION" on. April 22, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., April 23, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and April 24, 2011, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. DRALION is the fusion of ancient Chinese circus tradition and the avant-garde approach of Cirque du Soleil.
