Peoria Civic Center Authority Board February Meeting

March 6th   (Peoria, IL) – The Peoria Civic Center Authority Board met on Thursday, February 27th at 4pm at the Peoria Civic Center. The meeting opened with the approval of the minutes from the January meeting and the approval of the consent agenda.

SMG General Manager of the Peoria Civic Center, Jim Wetherington, then gave his report which included information on events held in January and February of 2014. Multiple Bradley University Men’s Basketball games and Peoria Rivermen Hockey games have taken place, along with major events including Lady Antebellum’s ‘Take Me Downtown Tour’, Monster Jam, Million Dollar Quartet and Flashdance the Musical.  Wetherington reported that the increase in snowfall this year on event days has affected ticket sales and overall revenue for Peoria Civic Center events.  SMG is working with the Peoria Civic Center Authority Board on lowering operating costs and increasing revenues.

Megan Pedigo, Assistant Director of Marketing for the Peoria Civic Center, reported that the marketing department was in the final stages of preparation before launching the completely redeveloped www.PeoriaCivicCenter.com website. The project was started in April of 2013. The new site features interactive facility maps, as well as an interactive calendar of events.

The finance committee reported that during the month of January the Peoria Civic Center hosted 82 event days, which was 10 more than budgeted and 93,921 people attended events in the facility.  It was also reported that ticketed events held at the Peoria Civic Center in the month of January generated $ 3,465,224.58 in economic impact for the community.
