Peoria Civic Center Authority Board May Meeting
May 29th (Peoria, IL) – The Peoria Civic Center Authority Board met on Thursday, May 22nd at the Peoria Civic Center. The meeting opened with the approval of the minutes from the April meeting and the approval of the consent agenda.
SMG General Manager of the Peoria Civic Center, Jim Wetherington, then gave his report which included information on events held in April and May 2014. After a busy April in the arena and theater with multiple shows, including the two sold out performances of the Blue Man Group and a range of rock legends on the Experience Hendrix Tour and the Joe Bonamassa concert, May kicked off with back to back shows of Celtic Women, Red Green and the Broadway hit Addams Family the Musical. The Peoria Civic Center also partnered with Cumulus Radio on the annual Spring Fling concert, which brought over 5,000 rockers into the arena for Five Finger Death Punch, Adelitas Way, Alter Bridge and The Pretty Reckless.
The finance committee reported that during the month of April the Peoria Civic Center hosted 45 event days, which was 7 more than budgeted and 31,680 people attended events in the facility. It was also reported that ticketed events held at the Peoria Civic Center in the month of April generated close to $2.2 million dollars in economic impact for the community.
