June PCCA Meeting

July 7th 2014 (Peoria, IL) – The Peoria Civic Center Authority Board met on Thursday, June 26th at the Peoria Civic Center. The meeting opened with the approval of the minutes from the May meeting and the approval of the consent agenda.
SMG General Manager of the Peoria Civic Center, Jim Wetherington, then gave his report which included information on events held in May and June 2014. The theater was busy with Celtic Women, Addams Family the Musical and Red Green running back to back during the first week of May. Dance recitals then took over the theater with hundreds of young dancers from five local dance studios taking the stage through mid-June. The ballroom was host to multiple wedding receptions and the Illinois Great Rivers Conference once again called the Peoria Civic Center home for a week during their annual event.
The finance committee reported that during the month of May the Peoria Civic Center hosted 53 event days, which was six more than budgeted and 35,366 people attended events in the facility. It was also reported that ticketed events held at the Peoria Civic Center in the month of May generated close to $2.2 million dollars in economic impact for the community.
The Mission statement of the Peoria Civic Center is to be a catalyst for improving the quality of life and economic vitality in our area by hosting diverse events that are enjoyed and supported by all segments of the general public. The Peoria Civic Center will operate as a business enterprise consistent with sound industry practices, financial principles and in an open and responsive manner.
The next Peoria Civic Center Authority Board Meeting will be held on July 24th at the Peoria Civic Center in room 405.
