July 28th (Peoria, IL) -- What started as a small spark of an idea has swept across Central Illinois to become IGNITE Peoria!.  During the 2014 IGNITE Peoria! event, the Peoria Civic Center was  taken over by creative individuals from all across Central Illinois sharing their passion with over 6,000 attendees.  From belly dancing to ballet, painting to fashion, cars to guitars, IGNITE Peoria! had something to spark the creative passion in people of all ages.

“We were absolutely blown away by the way Central Illinois came out to support the event last year,” said Kathy Chitwood, chairperson of IGNITE Peoria 2014. “The Artists that participated really delivered, providing a memorable experience for everyone. We are so excited to bring IGNITE Peoria! back this year.”

Jody Tockes, from the Hive, is one of the many excited participants from 2014 looking forward to returning for the 2015 event. “When I think back to last year’s event, what I remember most is that it was a crazy, art-filled, joyous blur. That is what makes me so excited for this year’s IGNITE Peoria!. Our business received such great exposure from the event, we had many calls and bookings directly from IGNITE, but it was not just about that. It was so fun to see everyone sit down to paint at my tables and have a great time,” Tockes said. “I was so busy last year I was not able to go around and enjoy the event myself! Hopefully this year I can get around to see more artists and participate in the event as well.”

This year’s event will be bigger and more diverse, featuring a number of new events and participants. With the guidance of  ArtsPartners of Central Illinois, and the support of the City of Peoria, The Peoria Civic Center and the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, IGNITE Peoria! will occupy the entire facility with unique experiences for the whole family.

The event will kick off at 9am on Saturday, August 8th in the main hub of the event, located in Exhibit Halls B and C, which will feature Creation Stations, World and Cultural booths, live entertainment and art demonstrations. Creation Stations offer a range of hands-on activities such as metal stamping, caricatures, photography portraits, artistic displays, and a musical instrument petting zoo. This area will also feature art on display and artists demonstrating their art in action.

Once again IGNITE Peoria! will be bringing international food and culture to the Central Illinois with the WORLD Ignites Peoria. Formerly known as Worldfest, this area will feature cultural booths, food booths and entertainment.

The Ballroom, located on the 4th floor of the Peoria Civic Center, will host Fashion Ignite Peoria. Fashion Ignite Peoria is a free, live, public fashion photo shoot extravaganza! Celebrating the wealth of talent our region has to offer in photographers, beauty professionals, fashion designers, fine craft artists, and local boutiques, the event offers an inside look at the exciting world of photography with an art/fashion edge.

Expanded this year is the All or Nothing Car Show at IGNITE Peoria!. This year the event will be held in the Arena, with additional cars in the theater lobby. This invitation-only show, hosted by Darius Donaldson, will feature cars & bikes that display an artistic, customized element.  Creative tutorials on customizing, pin striping, and drawing will be offered.  There will also be new product demonstrations with local businesses highlighted.  This is a unique, artistic element of our local arts community and should not be missed! A very special addition, Donk’e Punch, Justin Fenwick is a sneaker customizer.  You will be able to see his incredible work at the ALL or NOTHING car show!
