Peoria Civic Center Prepares to Increase Security Measures

Friday, January 22, 2016 (Peoria, IL)- As part of the new security requirements that will be implemented in the near future, Peoria Civic Center patrons are encouraged to look over new restrictions below. For specific events, mainly large arena concerts, metal detectors will be used in order to ensure the safety of patrons and guests.
Large concerts held in the area, for example, Luke Bryan, security will be heightened. For this event, walk through metal detectors, hand held wands and pat downs will be used on all patrons entering the facility. Guests will be required to remove hats and empty pockets of all items to be inspected. Some additional screening may be required. To accommodate the additional time needed for these security procedures, fans are encouraged to arrive early to allow extra time for entry into the facility.
There will be a restricted bag/purse size of 13”X15”X6” and all bags are subject to search. A template will be made that all bags must fit in. Diaper bags and bags needed for medical reasons will be allowed upon inspection.
The Peoria Civic Center management reserves the right to prohibit any item from entering the premises. All patrons and their belongings are subject to search prior to entry and once inside the building.
The Peoria Civic Center Arena has a No Re-entry policy during this events. Guests wishing to return any items to their vehicle must do so before passing through the security checkpoint.
Entry points into the facility will be limited to the main Box Office entrance facing the corner of Jefferson Ave. and Kumpf Blvd. and all entry ways along Monroe St. and the Fulton St. doors closest to the theater.
Below is a list of items that will not be allowed for large events. The items restricted include but are not limited to:
· Weapons of Any Type*
· Illegal substances
· Outside Food and Beverage
· Pets / animals**
· Beach Balls
· Laser Pointers/pens
· Video or Audio Recorders
· Cameras with detachable lenses
· Selfie Sticks
· Unauthorized noisemakers
· Stadium Seats
· Helium Balloons
· Electronic Cigarettes
· Signs larger than 24” x 24”
*The Peoria Civic Centers definition of weapons includes but is not limited to the following: knives or blades of any length, metal nail files, chains longer than 6 inches not made of precious metals (i.e. platinum, gold or sterling silver), firearms (authentic or replicated, including toys), clubs or extendable batons, any type of chemical irritant spray, stun guns or Tasers, spiked or studded jewelry, brass knuckle or any other item that could likely be used as a weapon or may cause injury if thrown or used improperly.
**Service animals as defined by the American with Disabilities act are welcome.
